Hanson Family {Family Portrait Session}

I was able to take photos for the lovely Hanson family a couple of days after I did the Blake family--and it just so happened that Mrs. Hanson and Mrs. Blake are best friends! :) I took photos for the Hanson girls last year, and was also able to take photos for Mr. Hanson's work so it has been simply wonderful working with this family so often! They are such a sweet and gorgeous family--they have some of the prettiest blue eyes ever. Mrs. Hanson has been so kind to pass on my info to friends, and I am so thankful to her for helping my business grow.

I couldn't believe how much the girlies had grown since our last shoot--especially the littlest one. They are such sweet girls and really enjoyed the photoshoot which I always love. The two oldest girls are gifted Irish step dancers, and we had lots of fun when they showed me some of their dance moves in the field.

And I loved the colors Mrs. Hanson picked. So bright and cheery! And who doesn't love pink?

Blake Family {Family Portrait Session}

Later this past fall, I was able to take pictures for the beautiful Blake family. Mrs. Blake and I had emailed back and fourth planning the shoot for quite some time before the shoot, so I was so excited when the date of our photoshoot finally arrived. This family was such a joy to take photos for, they were so down to earth and easygoing. Little Keegan wasn't too happy during the shoot, and there were some tears, but we all didn't realize till later that he had a double ear infection! :( Poor little guy, I would have cried too--he was quite the trooper! Even though he didn't feel so well, I loved the candid shots we were able to get and Mr. and Mrs. Blake were so relaxed and helped the shoot to go along so well!

Honestly, with little kids its "ok" if they aren't perfectly happy at the shoot--they are just being themselves and candid shots are sometimes the very best at all. Those are the ones you will treasure when your little kiddos are all grown up and married! :) I just love the shots from this shoot--they capture family, life, and love. They all just make me smile!

p.s. the lighting was simply yummy during this shoot. gahh photographer heaven.

Merry Christmas!!!

Hope you all had a fabulous Christmas celebrating our Savior's birth and spending time with your cherished ones. Christmas came very fast this year but it was splendid as always. I am so very thankful for the people in my life that make me feel so loved. I received a necklace from my mom today that says, "Love Life" on it--a perfect reminder on a daily basis. I am so excited for this New Year that is approaching and to share my yearly recap post with you all. Enjoy the rest of your holiday week--I know I will. So thankful school hasn't creeped back just yet. ;)

Davis Family {Family Session}

I took photos for the Davis family on a stunning fall day in a gorgeous park. I loved how these photos captured the beauty of fall, and everything about this shoot fit the autumn theme to perfection. I especially loved the photos we got by the water, and how the water reflected the vibrant trees. Reminded me of a water color painting!

It was awesome meeting the Davis family and they are such a gorgeous family. It ended up that Mr. Davis had helped coach one of my brother's baseball teams--it is certainly a small world!

Nardi Family {Family Session}

Soo I didn't think I would have time to get a post up today...but I decided I had to stick with my plan of posting everyday so here is a post (and I just made it...30 minutes till midnight!) I can't believe tomorrow is Christmas Eve. So crazy. Though I am honestly not ready for Christmas, I know it will be fabulous and I just can't wait.

I took photos for the lovely Nardi Family last month. They were a gorgeous family, and Mrs. Nardi said they had not had family photos taken for a while so I was thrilled to be able to take photographs for them. They even brought their ADORABLE new puppy, and it was awesome having the sweet puppy in the shots too. :)

Hurt Family {Family Session}

I was able to take photos for the wonderful Hurt family for the 3rd year in a row this fall. Mrs. Hurt has been such a help to my business, referring many of her friends and always being so encouraging. It was such a pleasure to take their photos once again--they are a beautiful family and very easy to work with. The kids are simply adorable and so sweet--even when it was freezing out they pulled through still smiling and giggling. They certainly deserve a prize for braving the cold. We took photos at a park area that had a stage, and several unique places for photos.

Ruei Family {Family Session}

I took photos for the lovely Ruei family this fall. This family had a special place in my heart, because I was able to do their first photoshoot after adopting their precious baby, Hope, from China. Adoption is truly such a beautiful thing, and being able to capture the love between a new family is incredible. I had taken photos for Mrs. Ruei's baby shower before their family went to pick up Hope, so it was special to finally meet little Hope and capture her baby photos.

Mrs. Ruei picked out a GORGEOUS location for the photos, a old mansion complete with gardens. Being the Jane Austen fan that I am, I always love old architecture. The lighting was completely gorgeous, and everything about this shoot could not have gone better.

DuBois Family {Family Session}

The day of the DuBois' shoot was windy, but sunny. It was such a pleasure meeting this family and working with them. The DuBois family was super easy to work with, and just so sweet. I didn't hear a grumble at all from the patient kids, and their genuine smiles were so so wonderful to capture. They even loved helping me pick out spots for the photos and had pose ideas. The oldest DuBois daughter loves to take pictures also--I love it when younger kids are already getting interested in photography. I remember when I first discovered my love for photography, and & how exciting it was. :)

(Oh and I also think Mrs. Dubois looks like Katherine Heigl. Yes, I love picking out celeb look-alikes while I edit my clients' photos.)

Emily & Jack {Teen Portrait Session}

I was able to take photos again for Emily and Jack this fall. We took photos on a day with gorgeous weather and lighting. This photoshoot was such a blast--Emily and Jack are awesome models and so easy to work with. Emily, especially loves modeling for photos and we were able to try out lots of different locations and poses. She even did a outfit change, which I am a huge fan of, since I know how hard it is to just choose 1 outfit. :)

Jack {Toddler Session}

I took photos for my cousin's baby, Jack, again this fall. We planned to take photos at the National Cathedral, but since it was under construction because of the earthquake (which by the way was super crazy for us dc folk!) we took photos at a school by the Cathedral. I loved the old architecture, and Jack's preppy little outfits went perfect with the location. Jack is such a cutie, and I always love taking photos for him. He has the clearest blue eyes and the sweetest littlest expressions--pretty much a dream baby to take photos of. :)

Widenhofer Family {Family Session}

On a beautiful, crisp fall day I took photos for the sweet Widenhofer family. It was such a joy meeting & working with this family. They were all so easy to work with. I loved how simple, fresh, & natural these photos turned out. The kids were such great sports and total naturals in front of the camera. I loved the laid back giggles & smiles we were able to capture (and the quiet, sweet moments too!)

I use this location often, but had not taken photos in the lovely field. These field was so lovely for photos! The pictures in the field are certainly some of my favs. Barefeet, golden light, soft green colors. Honestly... its the best.

The Lee Family {Family Session}

I am finally getting around to blogging!!!! I am so sorry I have neglected this blog--I have not had a spare minute between editing photos, schoolwork, and social events. But, it is finally Christmas break and I have wrapped up editing my shoots, which means I have time for blogging. I am going to try (and I mean TRY) to post once a day until the New Year. I am hoping this way I will be motivated to at least get half of my sessions blogged. I am esacatic to share some photos with you all. So, without further ado, here are the photos of the lovely Lee family.

I took photos for the Lee family last year, and I was excited to be able to take photos for their Christmas card once again. They are a beautiful family, and their gorgeous backyard is always breathtaking for the photos. The country feel and stunning light made this session just wonderful.

Some days I wake up and I am just so happy to be alive. To be breathing, to be able to laugh. There are just the days when you are just about to burst because you realize how amazing your life is. Those are the best kinds of days, when everything around you seems perfect and beautiful. When nothing can go wrong because you have the right perspective.

I am so thankful for the life God has blessed me with. Like anything, life isn't perfect, yet every little imperfection makes it just perfect for me in a since. A perfect life would have no adventure...no flavor. I am truly blessed to with the best family, friends, church, clients, a girl could ask for. People make life so wonderful.

I feel so blessed to be able to do what I love and be able to bless people with the gifts God has given me. What more could I ask for? Not many people can say that get paid for doing what they adore. How blessed I am. This past fall, I have been blessed with more photo sessions then I have ever had and been able to have the chance to meet more amazing clients. There is not a day that goes past were I do not smile when I think of my job and the people I get to work with.

This thanksgiving I have so much to thank the Lord for. I cannot even begin to count my blessings. I want every day to be thanksgiving. To be able to think about what God has blessed me with every single moment of every single day. What joy you would have.

May you all have a blessed Thanksgiving looking back on the years of God's faithfulness and cherishing the ones you love.

Josh & Jake {Children Portrait Session}

My first session of the fall was with Josh and Jake. These two fun loving and hilarious little boys always make every photo session a blast and I loved taking photos for them once again.

We took the photos at a lovely pond area (one of my favorite locations!) and we got some beautiful lighting. They were awesome sports and these boys love taking silly photos (we tried to fit a couple in!) They defiantly have adorable personalities and always can make people laugh.

hello blogging world! just wanted to write a SUPER quick post and say that "yes, im alive." and "yes im going to be posting very soon." junior year just started for me, and i am already in complete love with this school year. the start of the school year always is the best; fresh new sheets of papers, clean erasers, and sharp pencils. but i suppose the reason i am actually enjoying this year is that im playing volleyball pretty much every day (undefeated team woot!) and getting to hang out with my amazing friends after school & on the weekends. people always told me being an upperclassmen is the best and they were totally right.

my schedule is pretty much school, homework, volleyball practice, photoshoots, editing, more homework, volleyball games, etc. its crazyy but i love it. i love having no time to spare and being on the go none stop. it makes me feel productive and happy. so that is my short but sweet little post. i have tons of sessions coming up and several i am editing and need to post. im so excited to share them with you all!

Lily {Anthropologie Inspired Portrait Session}

Hello blog! I am back after a 2 week vacation out west, volleyball tryouts & practices, spending time with old friends & making new ones, and a 5 day youth retreat for my church. Oh, and did a mention the earthquake yesterday? Being a little eastern girl it was quite a shock! This past month has been an absolute blast..one of the best yet! But, I am ready to get back in the swing of things and continue to blog more. :) Fall photoshoot sessions are starting up also and I am so excited!

When I was visiting family out west I had a lovely photoshoot with my gorgeous cousin Lily. Lily is a talented dancer and actress, among other things.. she is also a fabulous model. Lily and I are very much alike and we have many of the same interests and tastes. We both are total shopaholics with a passion for fashion. I love having a cousin I can relate to so much and we always have an amazing time together going to all the boutiques, anthropologie, urban outfitters, and our favorite french restaurant. We could spend hours just talking or planning out our back to school wardrobes.

Lily and I both love Anthropologie and this session reminded me of it. :D The clothes, coloring, & soft lighting.

Honestly, she is simply flawless.

Told you she was a dancer! :)

City Baby {Georgetown D.C. Session}

Earlier this month I had the pleasure of taking photos of my cousin Heather, her husband Guy, & baby Jack in charming Georgetown D.C. Georgetown would have to be one of my favorite places ever & since Jack is a little city baby it fit perfectly. We ended up going on one of the hottest days of the year but Jack was such a good sport (as always!). We went to all sorts of spots all around Georgetown, finding the perfect mix of city & nature. I love trying out new places for shoots & Heather planned out all the details perfectly--she brought the cutest clothes & props ever. Jack has quite the wardrobe and more hats than most babies. ;) This would have to be one of my favorite sessions--the colors, lighting, emotions captured, and wonderful models.

At the very end Jack changed into his little sailor suit. He was pretty much too cute for words.
We took these right by the bay on a little patch of grass with benches of people surrounding us.
Let's just say we kept everyone very entertained.

Art Musuem & Life {Personal}

This summer has been the busy yet amazing. I have loved spending time with friends & just doing things that the rest of the year I don't have time for. Movies, pool time, shopping (too much!), parties, baseball games, slurpie runs, photoshoots, etc. The past couple of weeks I have been in driver's ed. I am SO happy it is over & relieved that I made it through.

A couple of weekends ago Abby & I headed down to D.C. We went to the Art Museum, Natural History Museum, & dinner at a little cafe in Union Station. We had a wonderful time! I loved loved loved the Art Gallery. I had been there several times when I was younger but had never really appreciated it & now it is one of my favorite places by far. I love the fountains, floors that echo, & the gorgeous paintings & sculptures. I mean seeing a Van Gogh or Monet in person? Breathtaking.

This was taken in the hall of portraits--I absolutely adored it. Reminded me of a castle!

Bohemian Lovelies {Portrait Session}

You probably remember Becca & Rachy. They have been on this blog a couple of times. Last month we did an amazing shoot on a extremely hot day. I have been wanting to do a artsy, bohemian style shoot for sometime so I was completely thrilled to be able to style a shoot I had been picturing in my mind for so long! Becca & Rachy are fabulous models who are always up for my ideas (which at times can be pretty crazy!). I love these girls so much and I am so glad we have been able to grow up together.

Rachy & Becca had recently purchased some long maxi style dresses and they were absolutely perfect for this shoot. We had a complete blast fixing their hair, styling their outfits, & doing makeup. I have to say that one of my favorite parts of photoshoots is the before process filled with laughter, jokes, and all things girly.

When we began taking photos in the forest it pretty much wrapped up my entire idea for these photos. When I got this shot I was pretty much squealing. Haha. Yes, I get very excited and I begin to use Rachel Zoe lines like, "I die. I die." ;)

After our nature/bohemian shots we wanted to do some more modern shots. Becca & Rachy had the idea to use chalk for some of the shots and we were planning to take them on the driveway but it ended up being way too bright. Soo, luckily we thought of a perfect place inside.

Part of their house had just been remodeled & painted so we had a perfect blank white wall for a canvas. The light was perfect and I absolutely adore how these turned out.

Baby Hope's Shower {Party Session}

Last month I had the pleasure of taking photos for a baby shower in honor of baby Hope. Baby Hope was born in China and her family will be bringing her home to the states very soon. The shower was a beautiful occasion planned carefully & beautifully by Hope's mommy, Faith's, devoted friends & family. Mrs. Hui, Faith's sister, was the one that asked me to take photos for this special party and I was more than pleased to capture this event. I took photos for the Hui family after they adopted precious Pearl, so being able to capture a wonderful adoption chapter in Mrs. Hui's sister's family was a blessing.

The shower took place at the Hui's lovely home. I adored the colors & decor of the shower. The fresh, clean, & pastel colors of the shower were simply superb. Also, the soft natural light made me a very happy photographer (especially indoors). I am sure that you other photographer's understand.

Little Faith (named Faith just like her auntie!) is so precious. She always gives me a big hug when I see her & always has a lot of photo questions to ask me. She is a sweetie!

The shower was full of games, complete with prizes in adorable little bags.

I love this shot of Hope's sister Grace. While reading the blog dedicated to the adoption of Hope, I came across several photos of artwork Grace had drawn of her future little sister & her. It was seriously the most sweet & heartwarming artwork ever. Grace is so excited to have a little sister & she has been patiently waiting for years. She is going to be the best big sister.

The adorable party favors. I don't know about you but party favors were one of my favorite things at parties when I was little. :)

Natalie {Portrait Session}

Meet Natalie.

A couple of weeks ago we did a little photoshoot and it was a complete blast. I have known Natalie since our awkward middle school days back when we used to do a history class together. Over the past years we have gotten to know each other better & she is a wonderful friend. We both love taking pictures so we decided we needed to do a shoot. We finally scheduled it. :)

As always this photoshoot was an adventure. We got a little lost in the woods but thank goodness Natalie comes from a family who is good with the outdoors so we didn't get totally trapped in the forest. Haha. And a group of middle school boys followed right behind us when we were walking through my neighborhood. They sang, banged, and whistled. But we didn't turn around. ;) We also explored a new mall after the shoot which was a lot of fun.

She has the cutest laugh ever! I love this shot! :D

Myrtle Beach 2011 {Travel}

Soo last week my family and I headed to Myrtle Beach for a week of fun in the sun. We all had a wonderful time and it was so nice to sit back and relax. Life is so crazy so its nice to not have something to do or somewhere to be every single day. We have gone to Myrtle Beach for about 4 years now and it has became one of our very favorite vacation spots. We stay at a lovely resort across the street from the beach and close to a adorable shopping center complete with an Anthropologie and movie theater.

The ride to Myrtle is about 8 hours from our house so it is a pretty lonnnggg car ride. We always stop at too many fast food places along the way. For the past couple of years we always seem to stop at the exact same Burger King. Mom had to get a picture of us like she does every year in front of it. :)

(And can I just say that I am a big fan of skirts for summer. They are so light and airy!)

No car drive is complete without a slurpie. And my sis and I decided to wear these nerd glasses into 7 eleven....yeh you do dumb stuff after being in the car for too long.

Golfing is big in Myrtle Beach. My brother and dad love to golf at the resort but the rest of us stick to mini golf. Yeh, I am not too good at it but it makes for a fun family evening!

Also near our resort and the beach is a charming old fashioned amusement park. It is quite a fun place with the perfect vintage feel. My sis and I had to do a photobooth (one of my absolute favorite things!). I have a ton of these things.

Ok, so a dream of mine has been to go on paddle-boats. I have no idea why but I always thought they sounded fun. We had never had time to go on them but hey we were at the beach so why not. My sis and I decided to go by ourselves and let me just say we kinda got stuck. And a family of ducks almost attacked us when we slammed into them. Fun times!

Giant Justin Bieber cut out? Yay! And this man was stepped right in front of me as we got the picture.

Now for the beach. Oh the beach. If you are ever lacking in inspiration go to the beach. Honestly.

The day I took these photos it was the absolute best day for photos..not too sunny or overcast. Perfect lighting. I was in heaven.

My sister and I had a photoshoot on the beach and it was so much fun. I loved the shots we got. Fresh & Fun. And I was in love with the amazing bokeh we got.

It was windy but I loved it.

She is a nerd..but a cute one. :)

I love this necklace I got from Forever 21. It is a little seashell...with a itty bitty pearl in it.

I had this idea in my head of getting some photos with my sister with ice cream cones from our favorite beach spot...Daddios ice cream. :)

We picked out some of our favorite clothing pieces and picked the brightest ice cream for our cones. :) Pink, well its always the best choice and I love bubblegum flavor ice cream. I know it sounds gross but try it!

I picked out my sis' outfit at Gap. I love their clothes for kids. Her outfit was complete with one of my favorite aqua blue necklaces. (I adore aqua and turquoise jewelry for summer!)

Details..details. They are my fav. ♥

I have been loving the nautical/sailor style lately. This dress is my new favorite piece.

The Humphries {Family Session}

Last month I had the pleasure of taking photos for the lovely Humphries family. Let me tell you, this family was an absolute joy to work with. I loved how the pictures turned out--full of life and personality. I felt like you really got to see who this family is and their love for each other through the photographs. Our shoot was full of laughter and fun and I hope I get to work with them again soon.

The Humphries had recently moved to the D.C. area and Mrs. Humphries' mother had just come to visit around the time of our shoot. I was so happy we got to have her in the photos. I really love when I get to take photos of grandparents and their grandkids. It is such a special relationship!

This little guy was pretty serious around the camera but he is just too adorable. I love his hair!

Crazy & Wonderful Life {Personal}

Well, I have had a pretty crazy week. Spanish test, Chemistry test, & Math test are done. School is almost over--two more weeks. I am so excited. So excited to be free from homework, exams, and stress.

This week has been so crazy busy and stressful, but it was all worth it because tomorrow I leave for New York City for an early birthday trip with my Madre. I love New York City (which I am sure you all know from my frequent posts about it! ;)) I can't wait to shop, walk around Central Park, see Phantom of the Opera on Broadway (one of my dreams!), be in Time Square, go to some fabulous vintage shops, etc. What can I say..I adore ADORE cities.

But, let me just say I really don't like packing. I always forgot something and I wish I could just pack up my whole wardrobe to ensure I won't forget a thing. Oh well. I am trying to pack light but I pretty much fail.

My bed is swamped with stuff I need to pack. Ahh!

And it doesn't help that I am exhausted because I got up at 5 a.m. this morning to watch the royal wedding--but it was worth it..soo worth it. Yes, I know most of you think I am crazy but I just could NOT miss this wedding. I have always been fascinated with the royals ever since I was little. I think it started when I found some books when I was around 7 all about Princess Di. The books were full of pictures after pictures of Di at her wedding, honeymoon, and every other event you could think of. I used to look at the books with my friends when we had sleepovers and we would laugh about the funny clothes or "ohh" and "ahh" over Di's gorgeous evening dresses.

The wedding today was so beautiful, and I absolutely loved Kate's dress! Her dress was complete perfection--regal, classy, & timeless. I also loved the dress her sister wore.

I have a couple pics from Easter Sunday last week also. I hope you all had a wonderful Easter full of joy celebrating our Savior's Resurrection! I spent it with my relatives and it was lovely. I love everything about Easter and the weather this year was perfect. I was happy I could wear my Easter dress without being too chilly. :) Oh, and can I just say that pearls are my new favorite thing ever. They are classic and pretty much go with everything--the perfect way to dress up a outfit.

I also adored the necklace my mom wore. I love all the little details & the peachy pinks & vibrant purples.

Easter is pretty much picture time in the Jackson household. :)

Jackson {Baby Session}

Last month, I was able to take photos for my cousin's baby, Jackson. You may remember my cousin Heather, and her husband Guy, from the wedding photos I took a couple of years ago.

Jackson is such a cutie and I have been dying to take some photos of him ever since he was born. Let me just say that he was such a sweetheart during the entire shoot and quite the trooper. He was very cooperative and I adore the shots we got.

The day of the shoot my mom and the four of us kids were planning to go to a museum before Jackson's shoot in D.C. Let me just say that our plans changed a bit after being stuck in traffic for 4 hours. Yes, city traffic is pretty much the worst and maybe, just maybe, four siblings get a little testy when sitting in a car for that long. ;) Let me just say that visiting Heather and Jackson made our day and we all were much happier when we left. I had not met Jackson yet, ( I missed meeting him when the rest of the family did), and was thrilled to meet the newest member of our family. :D

black & white {special post}

I love color, I am not going to lie. Color photos make me happy and I love vibrant colors and patterns. Yet, I have always loved black and white photos and the timeless feel they have to them. While going through my archives, looking for a photo (forgot what one!), I stumbled on some ballerina photos I took of my little sis about a year or two ago. I loved the feel of these photos, how they were moody yet lovely and when I changed them from color to b&w I pretty much fell in love with them.

So, in honor of my new b&w obsession I decided to do a post of photos in b&w from over the years from my travels and personal life. I absolutely adore the editorial, artistic feel to these photos. B&w photos capture the beauty in life and the still, quiet moments we want to hold on too forever. Whether it be the silent roll of the ocean or the joy of a little girl, I want to remember these moments. forever. Enjoy!

Becca {Child Portrait Session}

The day that Becca (my lil sis) took pictures for my new blog, I took some portraits of her as well. My sis is a total model--what can I say. She has loved modeling for me ever since I got my very first point and shoot camera. I am so thankful that I have gotten to experiment with her and practice new posing ideas, lighting tricks, etc. She is always up for a shoot and had been dying to model for me for a while--I am so happy that she got to be my first spring session. I loved how these pictures turned out and it was so nice to get my camera off the shelf after so many cold months of winter. I am so excited for spring. I can barely contain myself. Spring break is in one week so I should hopefully be posting more pictures soon. :D

(THANK YOU for all your feedback about my photo sizes on the previous post. I hope these sizes are better. I do prefer them on the bigger side but I hope these aren't too big.)

Elisabeth {Portrait Session}

Finally a new post on the blog--first post with my new design! :D This past weekend I was able to take pictures for my close friend Elisabeth. I got to know Elisabeth this past summer at our youth retreat when she moved to my area from Colorado. At the first lunch we sat next to each other--we pretty much became instant friends and hung out the entire rest of the retreat. We have already made so many memories (like Justin Bieber--Never Say Never, crazy New Years with Cass, the dock at the youth retreat, etc!!)

One of the funniest things that happened to us was when we went on this giant swing at the youth retreat. It was super high and swung over the lake, and we were both freaked out! When we finally got to the top we were supposed to hit the rope to release the swing. Well I ended up trying to hit the wrong rope--a metal type rope. I was practically turning blue from hitting this metal rope with my arm and we couldn't figure out why it wasn't working! There was a huge line for the swing so pretty much everyone in our youth group was down below screaming at us to just hit the rope. It was so embarrassing, it felt like we were up there forever! Finally we saw the rope that we should have pulled--a very thin rope. And we finally swung through the air but I was so humilated I wasn't even scared. Haha. The guy that ran the swing thought we were freaks and my friend, Cass, got the whole thing on her phone. Funniest thing ever!

Elisabeth is super sweet and so much fun to hang out with! Oh, and did I mention we our both half Asian? Yes, so exciting! Haha!

You probably noticed a difference on my blog, or should I say a big difference. I finally finished my new blog design and I love it. I think that this design and layout fits my own personal style better, as well as the type of photos I take. :D I love these colors--girly, sweet, & whimsical.

I also made changes to all the different tabs so make sure to check those out as well! I now even have a special tab and info place for weddings (yay!). My prices also changed up a bit so make sure to make note of that as well.

I am practically bursting with excitement for spring and photo sessions starting up again, so make sure to shoot me a e-mail so we can schedule a shoot this spring/summer. Also, if you are having a special party for your child or loved one I would love to document it as well! Check out more info in the session tab.

Last week, before a party, my friend Abby and I decided to have a quick photoshoot. We always do this everytime we get together, wait till about 5 o'clock when its almost dark and decide we want to get some photos. I convinced my little brother to take a few photos and we used self timer as well. Here are a couple shots we got. I loved the patterns against the bleak winter background.

Behind the Scenes {Travel}

A quick behind the scenes video from my vacations to San Fransisco and Hawaii this summer. I personally love watching videos and I have been dying to make one. I hope you enjoy seeing a little sneak peak of my Hawaii vacation (I STILL have to post on this.)

Filming credit goes to my mom and I shot a couple as well. You will probably spot me with my camera in several of these clips. ;)

The song is 100 years by Five for Fighting. I love it because it is a great reminder that our time on earth is limited so we should enjoy and soak in every moment. Travel is certainly a main ingredient for living life to the fullest and I want to remember to always laugh and smile more each day and to remember the memories that I will cherish forever. Whether it was dancing in the asian supermarket, trying on silly hats, taking photos on the beach, the luau, cable car rides, seeing turtles on the sand, or simply being with friends and family.

Making this video made me relive the joyful memories and brought a smile to my face. Enjoy!

(We filmed these videos on a small point and shoot so I am sorry for the not so great quality. I hope to get a flip camera someday soon. :))

B&R {Portrait Session}

Several months ago, at the beginning of winter, I did a photosession with two of my dear friends Becca and Rachel. It was pretty cold out and pretty cloudy and dark, but they were fabulous models and we got some pretty shots. :)

I have known these sweet girls since I was probably about 6 or 7 and they are dear old friends. They are both like my sisters and we always have a blast laughing and talking about old memories whether it was dumping cold ice cubes in the boys' tent, thinking a wild rabies rabbit was screaming in the night, or going to NYC for the first time.

Honestly aren't they both just lovely?

This is Rachel. Rachel could have lived in the Victorian age and she has a simple elegance and sweetness about her that is just lovely. She is a avid reader and loves caring for animals.

This is Becca. Becca is a spunky girl who loves anything little and girly. She has a classic beauty about her, and she always reminded me of Elizabeth Taylor.

J'adore Post 2 {Personal}

My second post in my J'adore series I wanted to center on what inspires me and where some of my favorite inspiration comes. If you didn't read my first J'adore post and are unfamiliar with what this series is you can pop over and read that blog post.

Recently I have been inspired by the Miss Dior Cherie ads and commercial. Miss Dior Cherie is one of the scents that Dior carries.

Don't these photos just make your heart melt. I love the vintage, fresh, joyful, and playful feel of all these photos. The retro feel is also simply lovely. And the pastel/ bubblegum colors? LOVE.

I have decided that I am going to learn to speak French and go live in Paris for a little while to take photos. ;) Sounds like a dream plan to me.

Mr. & Mrs. Dean {Magic Island Hawaii Wedding}

I am so excited to share with you all my second and final wedding that I second shot in Hawaii. I had dreamed of shooting one wedding, but never expected to be able to help shoot two. I got to work with an amazing photographer named Kricia who was so sweet in letting me come along and giving me tips throughout the day. This wedding was everything you would imagine in a tropical wedding and it was truly stunning. I am so blessed to be able to have been a part of it.

The couple, Matasha and Rashaun were so in love. Honestly, they could not keep their eyes off one another and I have to say that I have probably not seen a couple more in love and affectionate then them. Their love was truly magical.

The ceremony took part in a park called Magic Island. Oh goodness don't you just love that name? The whole ceremony was very personal and had some really lovely unique touches.

How gorgeous is this? The ceremony was nestled between two palm trees with the bride and groom's closet family and friends.

I just love all these bright colors!

I am adoring this black and white. Also, first wedding that I have seen the pastor use a i-pad.

The bridesmaid's dresses were so beautiful. Also, there is a little story behind them as well as Matasha's bridal gown. Matasha shipped all the dresses over before she arrived in Hawaii, but the package didn't come in time so she had to purchase all the dresses the day before the wedding. Talk about bridal stress! But, she found some stunning dresses that fit the tropical theme to perfection.

The main thing I loved about this ceremony was that every detail and word in the ceremony was based on Rashaun and Matasha's strong Christian faith.

During the ceremony the pastor had Matasha and Rashaun sign their names and wedding date in a new Bible.

I just love how dreamy this shot is.

And their married!

While Kricia and I were shooting the group shots a beautiful rainbow appeared. Everyone was very tickled and it was gorgeous and so vibrant. It captured the magical, tropical feel perfectly. This place is called Magic Island. ;)

We got some jumping shots on the beach that were extra fun! This wedding party was an absolute blast with very fun personalities.

Then it was time for the long awaited bride and groom shots!
(Do you spy the rainbow tower? That is where the first Hawaii wedding I shot took place! :D)

Matasha looked so stunning. I loved the colors she picked for her flowers.

Then it was off to the beautiful reception area.

The whole wedding party entered to "Nothing On You" by B.o.B. :D

And I pretty much adored these little statues with the leis. Pride and Prejudice meets Hawaii. :)

The gorgeous cake. I just loved the touch of the fresh flowers.

Everything in the reception had these beautiful butterfly details.

I loved this little wall with these heart lockets clipped on. Each heart had the name and date of the couple that held their reception here.

The food was all very colorful and delicous looking.

We got some shot in the house at the reception area. I love the vintage and elegant feel of these shots.

When it came time for the toasts everyone wanted to be a part of honoring and sharing funny stories about the couple. Matasha and Rashaun have been blessed with some fabulous and funny friends and family.

The first dance took place by the lighted fountain. It was such a beautiful moment.

Matasha and her grandfather also shared a special dance which was very sweet.

Rashaun even had a dance with his new mother-in-law.

The Girl & the Camera

Just wanted to pop in and say a quick hello! :)

I have alot of posts I am working on (L.A. vaca, Hawaii vaca, two weddings, portrait sessions, family sessions, etc.)

Life has been super busy lately, but the snow days have been a nice treat.

Thought I would post these self portraits I took a couple days ago, because my pictures with my camera never usually turn out. I also am wearing one of my recent favorite shirts--an Audrey Hepburn long sleeve top from Forever 21. I pretty much had to buy it because I adore Audrey Hepburn and her style.

(oh and just a note, I do not know why I look so serious in these. I really am not that stern and usually can't stop laughing. haha! ;))

Matthew in the Fall {Children}

Once Upon a time....

A little boy named Matthew lived in Hawaii.

Hawaii was sunny all year round and Matthew could go to the beach and play in the sand.

One day Matthew's parents packed their suitcases and took Matthew on a plane to visit Washington D.C.

Matthew had never been to D.C. It was a long plane trip.

Matthew had to trade his shorts for jeans. And Hawaii sunshine for a coat.

Matthew went to visit his friends, who had a daughter that loved taking pictures and insisted on photographing his every move.

On Sunday, Matthew dressed in his best and looked pretty stickin adorable.

And he knew it! ;)

Matthew had never played in the leaves or made leaf piles. But he got his chance.

Matthew got to visit the city and sit in the flowers.

And he smiled....

And sang for the girl with the camera.

He played in the gardens.

And picked flowers he shouldn't have. And got yelled at by a grouchy lady.

Matthew got to ride on the carousel. He screamed and squealed with joy.

Until he got tired, because the carousel seemed to never stop.

But perhaps the greatest adventure Matthew had, was going to see the trains.

He yelled and cheered and pretended he was the conductor.

He played on the tracks and laughed so hard.

And when he got home, Matthew asked the girl with the camera why she took the color out of pictures (black and white photos! :))

J'adore {Personal}

Since it is the wintertime, and because the photo business front is a little slow right now because of the bitter cold, I decided that I would start a series or some special posts that would allow me to share some of my favorite things and so that you all could learn a little more about me.

So this is post one of my J'adore series. J'adore is french for "I adore you." I have seen this word pretty much all over, especially in the fashion world. I just love the way it sounds and since I love the word "adore" I thought it would be perfect. In this series I will be posting recent clothing items, accessories, music, movies, etc. that I have been enjoying lately. Basically my favorite things, if you want to use Sound of Music terms. ;) I hope to share a little bit about what inspires me on a everyday basis. So without futher ado some of my favorite things that I J'adore.

Music- If you want to know the one thing that keeps me sane through editing hundreds of pics from sessions and weddings it is music. I am always on the search for new tunes, especially ones that are nice and simple for when I just need to un-wined and relax. I love tunes that make me feel happy, not ones that make your head throb haha. I found a couple of these on Taylor Swift's playlist--she has such good taste.

Music Videos- I also have been loving some music videos that are really inspiring and beautiful. Each of these inspire me so much and I would love to do some photo sessions inspired after them.

King of Anything-Sara Bareillis. I love how colorful and fun this music video. And the polaroids? Love it.

If I Die Young-The Band Perry. I just love how romantic and beautiful this video is. Reminds me of Anne of Green Gables.

Taylor Swift's new music video for her song Back to December. Not only is the song one of my favs, but this music video is so sad yet really lovely. I love the snow at the end.

Flipped-I watched this movie recently and I just have to say that it is one of the best I have seen in a long time. It isn't a complicated movie with a confusing plot. It is a simple and sweet tale of a boy and a girl growing up in the 60's. You can't but help smile when you watch it.

Headbands-The last couple of months I have been obsessed with headbands. I just love how they give shape to your hair, and pretty much if you have a bad hair day a cute hairband is the cure. Haha! You can get headbands for about $2-$6 at forever 21 that are super adorable or a pack of several at Sephora or Ulta. I love wearing the thin headbands for sports and then the more fancy ones for when I dress up or just simply to complete an outfit. I have always wanted a signature clothing item/accessory. Maybe this is it?

Camera Inspired Jewlery-What photographer doesn't love jewlery inspired by their passion of photography? From my first camera necklace I got at Urban Outifitters, I have always been on the lookout for photo inspired jewlery.

The newest item to my collection. I found this at forever 21. When I spotted it hidden among the other necklaces I was soo excited. I just had to get it. I love the little bow!

This necklace I have been looking forward to showing you all. My mom got this for me for Christmas and I J'adore it (hehe!). It is from an online company and my mom got this necklace personalized so that it has my brand name (nicole michelle) and then two little hearts with n & m on them. I can't wait to wear this to my sessions.

The Finches {Family Session}

I am trying to catch up on posting all my sessions from this fall/early winter. I can't wait for spring and photo sessions starting up again.

I took pictures for the lovely Finch family on a beautiful late fall day when there was still some sunshine. I loved the colors and lighting we were able to get in these photos and the Finch family were wonderful models. Enjoy!

2010 {Recap Post}

2010, wow what a year. This year was by far one of the best years ever and I am so blessed and grateful for all the wonderful experiences I was able to have. If you would have told me last January all that I would be doing in the coming year I would not have believed you for a second. This year was full of dreams turned reality and last minute trips. This year I discovered my love of traveling, which probably isn't the best thing. ;) I am not sure if any year could top it.

I think that when looking back you can focus on the negatives; what you didn't accomplish, the many mistakes you made, events that hurt you, etc. But, if you focus on the positive they really do outweigh the negative. Plus every negative thing that happened to you, helps you grow in a positive way.

This year I was given so many opportunities to learn from other photographers and grow in my photography skills. I grew in my passion for this art and was able to learn many tips and skills that will help me in the upcoming years.

When I was working on this post, I was able to really realize how blessed I am. I am SO grateful to God for all the blessings He gave me this year. It wouldn't have been even the least bit possible without His love and kindness. I am also so thankful to my parents and family for being there for me every step of the way.

So I better quit rambling, here is the recap of my year. :D

The first major highlight of my year was going to New York City in May. I adore NYC. I really can't explain how much I love it there. The energy is contagious. I went with my history class then stayed an extra day with my friend Abby and my mom for an early birthday trip.

My history class was all girls and I miss it so much. We had so much fun together and we were quite a crazy and bubbly bunch. Thanks to my teacher Lauren for letting us go on such a fun trip and being so sweet to all us girls.

I was able to do a photoshoot with Abby in Central Park. Central Park is AMAZING for photos.

Next up was the annual beach trip with the fam in May. The beach is so inspiring for photos and I love it so much there. I was also able to get the shot for my header when I was there.

We got stuck in a rainstorm, it was pretty fun. ;)

This summer I was able to get together with some of the girls from my photo internship I did last summer. It was so much fun to see them again and be able to take photos. Our mentor, "I'm Kristen" even stopped by.

We missed Noelle though. :(

In the summertime I was also able to take photos for my Church's annual kids camp with two super sweet and talented girls, Bekah and Ellie. We had such a blast and I loved working with them! Looking forward to doing it again this new year! :D

In July my family and I went to Cooperstown New York to see my brother, Paul's baseball team play.

We found this yummy ice cream shop with the best cold treats ever. We went there every day that we were in Cooperstown. What can I say? We love our ice cream!

In the little town of Cooperstown they had several stores with my family member's names in them. It was pretty funny. :D

And then, the biggest highlight of the year, or should I say my life came! I was able to go to Hawaii. Ahh! I went with my Grandma, little sis, and my mom. I had dreamed about this my entire life ever since I was a little girl. It was soo nice having a girl's trip and we got to visit my Auntie Chris and her family. We hadn't seen Auntie Chris for 6 years, don't ask me why! We hit it off right away and because of her my mom is into texting. Haha!

At the airport after we got off our flight. I was pretty much bursting with happiness. Haha!

While I was in Hawaii I was able to shoot little David's first birthday party. It was one of the cutest parties I have ever been too and all the kids looked like Gap Kids models.

I cannot get over how precious he is! Everytime I see this photo I get a smile on my face.

Oh, but I forgot to mention one major detail. I was able to second shoot two weddings in Hawaii. My first weddings ever. Ahh I was in heaven. I had dreamt about this my entire life and couldn't believe I had this chance of a lifetime. I had e-mailed some photographers to see if I could help shoot with them and two agreed.

Both the couples were so in love and such a joy to shoot. Thanks so much to the talented photographers Kricia and Chrissy for letting me come along!

The first wedding was so lovely and a perfect first wedding.

I still need to post a full post of this second wedding. It was so tropical and gorgeous!

Before I went to Hawaii I was able to stop by San Fransisco. I had always wanted to go there and am so happy I was able too. I loved China Town and Fisherman's Warf.

Then it was time to go home and get back to reality. I started my sophmore year of highschool as well as joining the varsity volleyball team.

Later in October I was set to go to Idaho for my cousin's wedding with my dad. About a week before we were set to leave my dad found out he had a business trip to California. We decided to arrange the flights so I could go with him to L.A. for two days then to the wedding. I had always dreamed of going to L.A. and was so shocked that I was able to go. I loved loved L.A., especially Santa Monica. A full blog post coming soon.

I was able to take some photos at my cousin's wedding. It was such a beautiful wedding at a stunning location.

Reminds me of Pride and Prejudice. Love this shot.

When I got back home I was able to second shoot a wedding with Kristen (I'm Kristen) I had seen this lovely couple on Kristen's blog and I was so excited to help capture their wedding day. I was in charge of getting the shots of all the guys at the hotel and then the groomsmen shots. I was super nervous and it was something new for me but it was a great learning experience and the guys were great! A full post coming on this wedding as well.

But, I saved the best for last. My clients and all their unique stories I was able to capture. I wouldn't be here without each client and their encouraging words. I grew to love my job even more this year and it was because of all the wonderful people I get to work with.

This year I was able to capture alot of exciting parties for some very special people.

Jessi's chef party. The food was yummy and this birthday girl is a sweetheart!

Miss Maddie's lovely valentine tea. It was a elegant event with some super sweet girls.

Emily's fabulous runway party. All the girls had a blast getting all dressed up and they all looked stunning.

Lola's beautiful and touching 90th birthday party. This lady is such an example and she has touched so many lives. I thought it was so special I was able to shoot a 1st birthday party (David's in Hawaii) and a 90th. :D

Now for family/children sessions. Each family I captured had their own special, yet beautiful story. I loved capturing all the different personalities.

And that wraps up my year. I am so excited to see what this year has in store for me and the new people I will get to work with.

I know it is super cheesy and cliche but I can honestly say to never give up on your dreams because you never know what could happen to you--thats what I learned this year. Never think you are too young because you are never too young to start fufilling your dreams.

I am so thankful to God for his grace and mercy and I know he will continue to be faithful with whatever he has in store for me this year.

Abby Leigh {Portrait Session}

You have probably noticed that I have been posting alot more, well it is just starting to be Christmas break so I will be posting more often. I am soo happy that it is the break, such a nice time to relax and catch up with friends and family.

A couple of weeks ago I did a really quick shoot with my friend Abby. Abby has been on the blog ALOT and she is one of my top models. Haha! It was freezing out but we got some really nice lighting, and Abby is always easy to take pictures of! :)

We headed to a baseball field to get these shots and I loved how they turned out!

Hanson Girls {Children Session}

I was able to take photos for the adorable Hanson Girls last month and it was a total joy. This session has to be one of my absolute favorites and I could have taken pictures all day! Mrs. Hanson and her sweet daughters were all so excited about the session, which is always so great and makes the session so fun and comfortable. The girls were fantastic models and had lots of ideas...which I loved. :D

Even though it was later in the year and a little chilly, we got some fantastic lighting and the colors were still very pretty.

The two oldest girls were so careful and sweet to the baby, it was precious! :)

Girard Family {Family Session}

Wow, I am so behind on posting my latest photo sessions! But I am finally getting a post up!

Last month I was able to take photos for the lovely Girard Family. You may remember their photos from last year. Mrs. Girard has had a big impact on my business, telling her friends about my photos and being such an encourager. Many of my clients are friends with Mrs. Girard or friends of a friend! :D

For the Girard's session we went to an amazing place that used to be a amusement park in the 1920s. Pretty much amazing right? It was such a fun place to take photos and it is offically one of my favorite photo spots now. There were so many places to take photos that I kept getting new ideas, I could have taken photos for 5 more hours!

The Girards are such great models and so easygoing and fun to take photos of!

I loved these ones in the window--so unique!

And how fun are these buildings? Seriously I adore the bright colors!

Carbonell Family {Family Session}

Last month I was able to take photos for the Carbonell family. Mrs. Carbonell catered Lola's Birthday party that you may rememeber from this post. She saw the photos that I took and asked if I could take some photos of her family, parents, and brother's family.

The day of the photoshoot we had perfect weather, and all the trees looked so pretty. We took the photos at the grandparent's home and it was simply perfect. It was so nice meeting the Carbonell family and we got some nice shots!

The kiddos! :D They are all so adorable!

These two little guys have so much fun together and are little balls of energy--it is so cute! :)

Hurt Kids {Children Session}

A couple of weeks ago I was able to take the Hurt kid's photos again! You may remember the Hurt Family's picture from last year.

This has to be one of my favorite sessions ever; the lighting, colors, and models were simply perfect! :D The Hurt kids were so easygoing and such good models that the session was very fun and I love the shots we were able to get. Plus they have the prettiest and bluest eyes I have ever seen! I love children sessions because we got to try out all new kinds of different shots and kids have such fun personalities that it really shines through the pictures.

Cupcake Love {Personal}

I love cupcakes. What can I say? I have a weakness for them. First of all they are simply adorable and I think there is something so girly about them (and did I mention I am a total girly girl?!?) Plus, who doesn't want a yummy chocolate cupcake with creamy frosting and maybe some sprinkles--yum! :D So pretty much I LOVE cupcakes (I even wrote a paper once describing myself as a cupcake! Haha! We had to choose a food that described us for school.)

I also love TLC shows. I am a total TLC fanatic! I love watching the fashion and bridal shows (Say Yes to the Dress, Four Weddings, What Not to Wear to name my favs!) I really don't know why but I honestly can spend hours watching TLC.

So when you put a TLC show and cupcakes together what do you get? You get the TLC show D.C. Cupcakes! Its about two sisters who opened a hugely succesful cupcake shop in downtown Georgetown in D.C. I really enjoyed the show and had been dying to go visit the actual shop! I had gone down to Georgetown a couple of months ago, but the line for the shop was wrapped around the entire building, so I decided I better come back another time. My mom, Aunt (who was visiting from Hawaii), and I went to Georgetown last Thursday night and the line wasn't too long (though it still spilled out the front door!)

We HAD to take the chance to go try a cupcake and see if the sister's were working. It so happened they were and everyone at the store was sooo excited (everyone was taking pictures and wanting to meet them!) Then I found out they were filming! Ahh! So yeh I saw the whole filming crew and got to watch the sister's at work so it was pretty awesome for a TLC fanatic like me! I even got to "help" the crew by pressing the switch to turn off all the lights for filming at the end of the day! ;)

This was the crowd release form that was on the door before you entered the shop--everyone was freaking out and taking pictures haha!

Oh my goodness, this might have been the cutest cupcake shop ever! The font, design, and logo are so cute! Plus all their boxes are in pink and black!

Mr. & Mrs. Jung {Waikiki Beach, Hawaii}

My dream was to shoot a wedding in Hawaii. On the pure white sand and clear blue ocean ahead. It seemed so far fetched and a very distant wish that I doubted would ever come true, at least for not several more years.

One day, my friend Abby and I decided to e-mail photographers...in Hawaii..and see if we could second shoot a wedding. One photographer I really admired, Chrissy, replied and said that I would be able too, as well as another gifted photographer named Kricia. Everything fell into place, my mom found cheap tickets, my Aunt lives near Honolulu, and before I knew it I had booked a flight to Hawaii. Shut up. I felt like Cinderella, with a camera.

I have been so excited to share this first wedding with you because it has a very special place in my heart. I got to witness my dream play before my eyes, and get this: I always used to say that I wanted my first couple I took pictures of to be Asian. I am a little partial I suppose, being half Japanese but honestly I adore Asian couples. I think they are the most cutest, sweetest ever! And guess what, I got to take pictures of a lovely Asian couple.... in Hawaii!

So, now for the photos! I am so excited to share these all with you! I don't know where to begin and I am pretty much exploding with happiness right now.

But, before I start the post, I need to give a shoutout to my Aunt, Mom, Grandma, and sister for putting with my "llama" drama in the car heading to the wedding. What can I say, I was just a little nervous and a whole lot excited!

The wedding took place at the Hilton Hotel on Waikiki Beach, by the rainbow tower. Oh my word, was this hotel gorgous! Just think of a five star resort + spa + a mall (with designer shopping) + a stunning beach + beautiful rock pools and fountains. Sigh.

Meet the lovely bride, Anne. She looked so lovely and was simply glowing!

We got some bridemaids shots around the resort and on the beach. It was so beautiful, and the flowers and dresses complimented the surroundings perfectly.

I loved this shot.
Next, we headed to the ceremony section, nestled among the towers of the hotel. It was so simple and personal.

I loved how simplistic the flowers were, and they looked so beautiful and fresh.

The beautiful ceremony area overlooked a rock pool and fountain.

The sweet Grandma. Before the ceremony, while the bride was getting ready, she sat in her wheelchair and looked on with such happiness and peace, it was the sweetest thing ever! :)

The little ring bearer was so cute! He was very confused why I was taking pictures of him! ;)

And then the moment came for the bride to go down the aisle. It was so touching and Anne cried a little.

Combining the sand, which was a nice touch for a beach wedding.
And their married! :D

I loved the flower girl's headbands, and they had a total ball blowing the bubbles while the family got their group shots done.

When we went to take the bride and groom shots, all the groomsmen were super kind in helping the Anne was her dress.
One of the groomsmen brought a chair all the way to the beach so that Anne and Wyman couldput their Nike shoes on.

One of my fav shots! A guy that worked from Nike even came up and asked if he could get a couple of shots for the company.
Oh my goodness. Look at that adorable couple, blue ocean, and white sand, I couldn't have imagined any better!
The whole time while I was taking pictures, the song Lucky by Jason Mraz was ringing in my head! :)

These little kids brightened my week with their sweet smiles and clear blue eyes. I love taking pictures of children, and they were such good sports!
